We live in a world of great need – a need for all the nations to discover God’s reconciling love and justice found in Jesus.
In a recent Gospel talk the Vicar said, “Some years ago, after watching a documentary on the Pol Pot years – which painfully detailed the killing fields, the mass torture and brutal destruction of an entire nation – my son asked me, “what were you doing when this was going on?” I told him the truth. I did nothing because I didn’t know it was going on.
It was pre-internet then. It isn’t now… So what will we reply we are asked about Syria by our children or grandchildren? How will we answer our Lord when, according to Matthew 25:31-46, we are to be judged by how we respond to a world full of the impoverished, the imprisoned and the alien – each one of them bearing the image of our Lord?”
